TaiJutsu: Ninja Art of Unarmed Combat

Here i am trying to learn how to be a ninja when i find out that Taijutsu (the martial art i trained in for 8 years of my life) is one of the elements of ninjitsu. Can you believe it!

So it seems i have a head start. YAY!

For those in the dark, Taijitsu is the unarmed combat side of ninjitsu. You are taught to use your body as a weapon. As i cast my mind back to training we regularly practiced throws, joint locks, pressure points, ground fighting, sparring, katas, defence against multiple opponents and copious amounts of press ups, sit ups and other fitness exercies.

Weapons were on the agenda as well but they were saved for higher grades.

Anyway, as you can see taijutsu comprises a lot of skills.

The best way to get a full understanding is to study Taijutsu: Ninja Art of Unarmed Combat by Charles Daniel. It's the best book i've found on Taijutsu and covers the techniques very thoroughly. I've searched high and low for other material but this is the best one i can find.

Taijutsu: Ninja Art of Unarmed Combat

The moves in Taijutsu are very effective and some of them can look pretty flash if that's what you're going for but there is an effective defence strategy for every situation.

Give the book a good old read and let me know what you think!
